Pension woes

THE Money Mail article about how pensioners spend their money had my husband and me laughing until we cried.

After paying our bills, we don’t have £100 a month spare to eat out or get takeaways, our Ford Focus is 20 years old and won’t get through another MOT, we haven’t been on holiday for years, we can’t afford the barber or hairdresser so cut each other’s hair and the supposed £60 a year budget for perfume is spent on winter shoes.

Those of us who get a meagre private pension had to work hard for it.

Claims that pensioners enjoy a comfortable lifestyle only causes resentment from the younger generation.
