High St boost for Boots

A BUSIER High Street, rising sales of beauty products and sustained demand for pharmacy services have boosted the recovery at Boots.

Sales at the health and beauty chain’s stores rose 15pc in the latest quarter, while sales at its pharmacies also grew 11.4pc in the three months to August 31.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, its US owner, cited the ‘ongoing recovery’ of business in the UK after exceeding analysts’ expectatio­ns with profit of £458m in the fourth quarter – up 68pc on the same period of 2020. WBA’s internatio­nal sales, the bulk of which are generated by Boots, jumped 62pc to £4bn.
