US will finally lift travel ban for double dosed from next month
TRAVEL to the US for the fully vaccinated will reopen on November 8, the White House said yesterday.
Nearly 20 months after America shut its borders, transatlantic families will finally be reunited and tourism allowed once again. Britain dropped restrictions on fully vaccinated US visitors in July as a ‘goodwill gesture’ but America has taken weeks to reciprocate, angering ministers and the travel industry.
Under the new rules, vaccinated air passengers will need to be tested three days before travel and airlines will be required to put in place a contact tracing system. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it would accept vaccines approved by the US Food and Drug Administration or on the Emergency Use List from the World Health Organization.
This includes the AstraZeneca vaccine, which has been widely used in the UK but has not been approved for use in the US.
Other vaccines that will be accepted include Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm and Sinovac.
