Jilted wife hacks rival’s account to brand her a ‘home wrecker’
A JILTED wife hacked into the Netflix account of her husband’s new lover and changed her profile name to ‘desperate home wrecker’, a court heard yesterday.
Sharen Pound, 33, used a family Xbox account to log in to the streaming service used by Adele McGillivray and renamed a second profile ‘the skank’ in a day-long campaign of harassment.
The mother-of-four also made internet inquiries for unwanted services in the name of her love rival, including a nose job and a stairlift for her home.
Miss McGillivray said she was immediately suspicious Pound, who had split from her plasterer husband a year earlier, was responsible and alerted police.
Stockport Magistrates’ Court heard the feud erupted in April when Pound’s unnamed ex began dating Miss McGillivray. In a statement Miss McGillivray said the ‘cyber attack’ had left her ‘distressed and annoyed’ as she was concerned her bank details could have been visible to Pound.
She said: ‘I just want this to stop and for her to leave me alone.
‘I feel she is just jealous of my relationship. I feel I was targeted because of this.’
Peter Conroy, prosecuting, said Miss McGillivray had received phone calls and texts from companies from internet inquiries after her account was accessed, which ‘related to nose jobs from a private hospital in Manchester and an inquiry about installing a stairlift at the property’.
Anthony Derbyshire, defending, said Pound, who has no previous convictions, was embarrassed by her behaviour. ‘Her biggest loss is her good character,’ the lawyer said. ‘She has no desire or wish to have any contact with the complainant. She accepts she was entirely wrong for what she did,’ he added.
Pound, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, admitted harassment and was banned from contacting Miss McGillivray under a restraining order. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £119 in costs.
