Khashoggi protest outside stadium

- IAN HERBERT

A LARGE poster van displaying an image of the murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi will be prominent around St James’ Park before Newcastle’s first game under Saudi ownership tomorrow. More than £1,000 has been raised for the protest, which will be a reminder of how the Saudi state oversaw the murder and dismemberment of the Washington Post journalist. Organiser Blair McDougall wants to raise enough to rent a more permanent site near the ground. Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo insists he has too much on his plate ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Newcastle to concern himself with the £305million takeover. He said: ‘I have enough other things to think about honestly.’ Among the issues for Nuno to solve is Harry Kane’s poor form. ‘We are relaxed. We know Harry is more than goals,’ he said.
