Spain’s king ‘got female hormone to control his rampant sex urges’

- Mail Foreign Service

HE’S the famously rampant royal who is said to have had 5,000 lovers – and even allegedly made a pass at Princess Diana.

But the libido of Spain’s former king Juan Carlos caused so much chaos that his secret service injected him with female hormones, an expolice chief claimed yesterday.

It was deemed a ‘problem of the state that he was so horny’, Jose Manuel Villarejo told a parliamentary hearing in Madrid.

‘They injected female hormones and testosterone blockers to control his libido,’ he said.

Juan Carlos, 83, abdicated in 2014 in favour of his son Felipe after 39 years on the throne. He is in exile in a luxury Abu Dhabi hotel amid a corruption scandal.

He has three children with wife Sofia. But their relationship since his abdication is said to be virtually non-existent and it has been claimed they last shared a bed more than 40 years ago.

Former police commissioner Villarejo, who is on trial accused of secretly recording conversations with high-profile Spanish politicians, denied any involvement in the secret service’s plot.

He claimed he found out about it from Corinna Larsen, 57, a former lover of the ex-monarch now living in London.

Spanish author Pilar Eyre said Juan Carlos made a pass at Diana, then 25, when she, Prince Charles, William and Harry spent a holiday in Majorca in 1986. According to Miss Eyre’s book, the king made a ‘tactile’ advance. Diana denied anything untoward had happened, but admitted that while Juan Carlos was ‘charming’ he could be a ‘little too attentive’.

In another book, titled Juan Carlos: The King of 5,000 Lovers, author Amadeo Martinez Ingles dubbed him a sex addict.

In 2017 it was claimed ex-Miss World contestant Barbara Rey, 71, was paid millions in taxpayers’ money to stop her revealing an affair with Juan Carlos. A spokesman for Spain’s royal family declined to comment at the time.

A Belgian housewife and a Spanish waiter claimed in 2012 to be his illegitimate children.
