But Strictly’s Tom is latest favourite to get the chop
BROADWAY glitz may have come to Strictly this weekend – but there was no question as to who its leading lady was. And she wasn’t to be found on the dancefloor.
Judge Motsi Mabuse wowed viewers with her latest look for Saturday’s musicals special – styling her hair into an enormous curled mane.
The South African dancer, 40, paired the hairdo with a bright pink suit and huge gold jewellery, leading one fan to tweet: ‘Motsi’s hair needs its own TV show.’
It is not the first time Miss Mabuse, who now lives in Germany, has impressed this series. She has also worn her hair in dreadlocks, Bantu knots and a huge ponytail some viewers compared to a Star Wars Jedi.
But it wasn’t all smiles on the night as musician Tom Fletcher became the latest celebrity to be voted out of the competition. The McFly singer, 36, and his professional partner Amy Dowden came joint bottom of the leaderboard for their couple’s choice to On My Own from Les Miserables.
The dance, which he dedicated to his sister, West End actress Carrie Hope Fletcher, even garnered the support of Hollywood star Russell Crowe. In a video message the actor, who starred in the musical’s film adaptation, said: ‘I hear you are doing very well. I expect you to achieve at the highest level. That is in your nature.’
But he struggled to remember the rest of his lines, adding: ‘Enjoy your dance. I can’t remember the details I was meant to talk about.’
Yet viewers were livid after Fletcher lost out to CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson in the dance-off, with many claiming it should have been Dan Walker.
The BBC host, 44, missed out on the danger zone despite coming joint bottom with his Singin’ In The Rain-themed charleston. Meanwhile Tilly Ramsay scored a perfect 40 for her couple’s choice.
