Probe into the trans Girlguiding leader who posed as ‘dominatrix’

- By Neil Sears

GIRLGUIDING UK has started an inquiry after a trans woman local leader posted pictures of herself posing in a dominatrix-style outfit and with a gun.

Bus driver Monica Sulley, 58, became a district Guide Commissioner earlier this year. She describes herself as a ‘trans activist married to a wonderful cis man’ – cis being a person whose gender corresponds to their sex at birth.

It means she oversees the activities of multiple packs of Rainbows, who start at five, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers, for older girls.

But concerns have been raised after it emerged she had put online several sexualised images, as well as others featuring what looks like an assault rifle.

Next to a picture of herself in a bondagestyle mini-dress and high heels and holding a riding crop, she wrote: ‘Now behave yourselves or Mistress will have to punish you #mistress.’

In another picture she is posing with what appears to be a replica assault rifle, wearing a handgun in a holster. A third shows her with a sword and displaying cleavage, accompanied by the words: ‘Boobs, or did you want to see more?’

There has been controversy over

Girlguiding UK’s pro trans stance which mean trans women, who were born as biological men, can take young girls on overnight camping trips. The organisation has described itself as a ‘girl-only organisation with a trans-inclusive equality and diversity policy’.

Ms Sulley became the Guiding Commissioner for Southwell in Nottinghamshire in July.

On feminist website 4W, which brought the pictures of Ms Sulley to public attention, writer Anna Slatz described Ms Sulley’s social media posts as ‘disturbing’.

Ms Slatz wrote: ‘While Girlguiding framed their policies as being directed towards including and supporting children, they tiptoed around the fact they were also allowing adult males who identified as women to take leadership positions within the organization in proximity to and control over the youth.’

The feminist publication said Ms Sulley was among 2,000 signatories to a letter to Pride In London organisers three years ago complaining that radical lesbians had been allowed to stage an ‘anti-trans’ protest during the Pride march.

In response to questions about Ms Sulley, Girlguiding said in a statement: ‘The safety and wellbeing of our members is our absolute priority. We follow rigorous recruitment and vetting procedures, have clear policies, and a volunteer code of conduct which volunteers are expected to follow to keep our members safe.

‘Girlguiding is aware of concerns raised. We are looking into this as a matter of urgency and will provide the necessary support and action in line with our compliance procedures.’

Ms Sulley says she is a ‘scout leader’ and asks to be referred to as ‘she/her’. She did not comment when contacted. Her Instagram and Twitter accounts have since gone private or been closed.

Three years ago two Girlguiding volunteers were kicked out after complaining that girls were being put at risk by the encouragement of trans guide leaders. One of them, Helen Watts from Ealing, West London, said girls had a right to ‘femaleonly’ spaces such as lavatories and sleeping accommodation.
