ONE LUMP OR TWO
Listen, did you hear it? That’s the creaking of
my bones, I don’t think it was a
floorboard, But then you never know! I think I’ll try to stand up, But my back is sort
of locked, I’ve been sitting down for
too long. No, please don’t look
so shocked! My knees have
merely stiffened, And my hip’s a trifle sore, But I’m nearly, almost,
standing . . . Look I’ve made it to
the door! I think we’ll have a cuppa, Yes, by all means use
the loo, When I’ve got
our refreshments I guess I’d better pop
there, too! Here’s your cup of
coffee, dear, It somehow doesn’t look
a lot. Oh, I’m sorry, did you
say tea? Silly me, I quite forgot! I’ll get another, it’s
no trouble, It’s the least that I can do, And I remembered you
take sugar, But I forget, one lump
or two?
