Strictly Shirley lets her hair down after good news on cancer scare

SHE is always a glowing presence on the Strictly judging panel.

But Shirley Ballas showed off an extra touch of glamour this weekend with flowing curly hair extensions.

The judge, 61, wore a celebratory glitzy blue sequined dress – hours after finding out that two recent cancer checks had come up negative.

She said she can finally breathe after ‘feeling very anxious for several weeks’.

Last month, fans claimed they could see a lump under her arm during a live Strictly show. A scan also revealed a possible kidney lump.

But in an Instagram video on Saturday, Miss Ballas said: ‘I got two sets of results back today and the shadow on my kidney seems absolutely fine, they’re not worried about it. Some other little, I’m going to say polyps, there was a fancy name for them, are just absolutely fine so there was no cancer there, so that was good.’

She said she still needs to have her breasts checked and has started taking oestrogen after a doctor revealed she has a hormone imbalance.

‘Thank you for all of you who spotted [the lump], who made me go and get my MOT of myself, I really appreciate it,’ she told her 225,000 followers, adding in the caption: ‘Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll start to feel less tired and my old self again.’

Last night on the BBC1 show, Tilly Ramsay became the latest celebrity to leave. The TV presenter, 20, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, found herself in the dance-off for a third time after her ‘awkward’ samba scored 30 points. The judges unanimously chose to save CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood told Miss Ramsay: ‘For me I thought it was a little bit awkward on your body and disconnected. There was unsteady footing also. I know you can do better.’

After being voted out, she thanked the show’s staff and dance partner Nikita Kuzmin, telling him: ‘I really meant it when I said I made a best friend for life.

‘You’ve just been incredible. Thank you for the best couple of weeks.’
