INJURED FREDDY’S ‘SHOUT FOR SURVIVAL’

- By SAM TURNER

FREDDY TYLICKI revealed he ‘shouted for survival’ before a horror pile-up at kempton in 2016 when his horse and three others fell during a race, leaving the jockey with life-changing injuries. Yesterday saw Tylicki’s £6million negligence case against fellow rider Graham Gibbons begin at the High court. The former champion Apprentice also claims that Gibbons’ riding was ‘dangerous in the extreme’ during the race and that he breached the duty of care owed by one jockey to another. lord Faulks Qc, representing Tylicki, claimed that Gibbons, who denies riding negligently, manoeuvred his horse Madame Butterfly into the path of Tylicki’s mount that was running into a gap between his horse and the running rail. Tylicki stated: ‘i was pulling back as well as shouting Mr Gibbons’ name, then i went down and it went black. it was a shout for survival because i knew what was going to happen next. But there was no response.’
