Terry’s Shockolate Orange! Mayo is choc flavoured
IT’S not the type of combination that would normally be seen as a match made in heaven.
But food giants have joined forces to create an unusual festive treat – a mayonnaise version of the classic stocking filler Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
Terry’s, which has been making the chocolate segments since 1932, has struck up an unlikely partnership with Heinz for the ‘world-first festive mash-up that you didn’t know you needed’ in the form of a chocolate orange mayo. It will not be up for sale but 200 jars can be won in an online competition running until December 13.
It is believed to be the first time major food companies have produced a chocolate mayonnaise. The two firms say the blend of mayonnaise and chocolate orange segments, creme patissiere and an extra dose of orange oil is a ‘smooth and delicious spread’. Maria Jantchi, of Heinz, said: ‘This year we set out to create the most Christmassy mayo that we could think of. And who better to partner with for that than the iconic Terry’s Chocolate Orange – everyone’s favourite Christmas treat?’
Laure Gentil, of Terry’s, said: ‘We have never stopped innovating, growing and launching new formats and flavours to delight our loyal fans. We are proud to be continuing this Christmas with our mayo mash-up, which works perfectly as a delicious spread.’ It comes after Heinz last month launched ‘Christmas in a can’ – a soup with turkey, Brussels sprouts and pigs in blankets.
