Skill shortage

I WAS amazed at the NHS plan to pay for handymen to fix patients’ draughty homes to help them stay healthy and out of hospital (Mail).

Where are these tradesmen going to come from?

My son works for a property company and, despite having a team of tried and trusted workmen to call on, he is struggling to get enough cover to fulfil contracts. It’s a sixweek wait for a plumber while electricians, plasterers, builders and handymen are under enormous stress.

Perhaps it’s time to change the entry requirements to bring back excellent workmen from the EU.
