SINGLE for two years, no children.

CURRENT ROLE

SELF-employed video editor and music therapist.

WOULD LIKE TO MEET

SOMEONE laidback and chilled. I don’t like a controlling person.

RELATIONSHIP HISTORY

I’ve been single for two years. I was in a serious relationship for three years, but we realised we wanted different things in life. Since then, I’ve done some online dating.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

I WaS both nervous and excited. I wanted to make a good first impression so wore smart grey trousers, a shirt and dressy shoes.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

Laura’S not the type of girl I’d usually go for. my type, in physical terms, is more curvaceous. Laura also behaved quite formally in my opinion; she almost seemed like someone you’d meet in an office environment. Still, I’m open-minded. I think we both felt out of place at first, but we got over that quickly.

EASY TO TALK TO?

We got into some pretty interesting subjects around British culture, politics and covid, and put the world to rights. We spoke about the euro 2020 matches and the unfortunate racism that followed, cancel culture and the extreme consequences some people are facing. I enjoy those kinds of conversations and we did have a bit of banter, too. But I’m into music while she’s into football, so we didn’t have much in common. Laura is dedicated to her work, trying to further her career, which inspired me to keep pushing on with mine.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

Not at all, thankfully.

DID SPARKS FLY?

tHere wasn’t any flirting on my side, but while I didn’t see any potential for romance, I did enjoy her company. We didn’t swap numbers and it was a little awkward as neither of us knew how to end the date. We walked to the station, then said goodbye when we went in different directions.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET AGAIN?

mayBe socially.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I tHINk we probably mirrored each other’s sentiments. We’re both focused on our careers and had mutual respect for our ambitions.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIKE HER?

SHe might struggle to fit into my circle of creative people, but they certainly wouldn’t dislike her.
