. . . AND FOUND
A SAD end to a search for an old friend. Peter Godly, 78, from Carshalton, Surrey, was looking for Dennis Williams, his good friend from the 1960s. ‘We were electricians and worked together all over the country,’ he wrote. ‘We lived in Mitcham, Surrey, and would meet our friends Ron Cowland and John Barclay for drinks. It would be great to meet up again after all these years. ‘In 1970, I went to South Africa to work in Johannesburg. Dennis married Barbara and had a son. Sadly, I lost contact with him after returning to Britain in 1973. I married in 1982 and raised four children.’ Another of Peter’s old mates, Raymond Tijou, emailed from Sussex. ‘I knew Peter back in the 1960s when I used to meet up with him, Dennis, Ron and John. Sadly, Dennis died in 2019. I’m still in touch with Barbara, and with Ron, who lives on the Isle of Wight.’ Peter has now made plans to visit Ron and Raymond.
