Cold comfort

WORSHIPPERS seeking comfort, fellowship and an escape from loneliness this Christmas have to show a Covid pass to attend services at Durham Cathedral.

The carol In The Bleak Midwinter has a 2021 resonance with an insight into how the Virgin Mary must have felt when she was told there was no room at the inn.

Today, there is room at pubs, but not at a place of worship, for those without Covid passes.
