Flying up the money league, £6m Emma the BA recruit
SHE has already amassed a small fortune in the three months since becoming a Grand Slam champion. Now, newly crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year Emma Raducanu has netted another nice little earner.
The tennis star, 19, has been unveiled as a global brand ambassador for British Airways. Miss Raducanu, who a year ago was still at school, could now be worth £6million, experts say – her victory at the US Open earned her around £2million in prize money alone.
But she but is tipped to earn £100million in the coming years. Her BA fee has not been disclosed but Miss Raducanu shared a picture of her posing in the cockpit in a pilot’s hat and sunglasses, telling fans: ‘Thrilled to join the @British_Airways family as a global brand ambassador!
‘I look forward to working with the iconic British brand on some exciting projects!’
Miss Raducanu, who has been isolating in Abu Dhabi following a positive Covid-19 test, was inundated with offers after winning the US Open in September to become the first British woman in 44 years to claim a Grand Slam singles title. She was still 18 at the time and had completed her A-levels weeks earlier.
She has already bagged lucrative deals with luxury brands including Tiffany and Dior. While it is not known how much she will be paid by Dior,
‘Iconic British brand’
actress Charlize Theron reportedly signed a contract with the brand worth £27million over 11 years. Miss Raducanu’s Tiffany deal is worth an estimated £2million.
She is also an ambassador for Evian water and has deals with sports firms Nike and Wilson each believed to be worth £100,000 a year.
