Ammunition firm sued over Baldwin film set shooting
THE armourer who provided the gun with which Alec Baldwin fatally shot a cinematographer on a film set is suing the prop supplier.
Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who oversaw firearms on Rust, blames Seth Kenney and his company for introducing live rounds when only blanks and dummies were supposed to be present. Baldwin, 63, has said he had no idea the gun he was holding contained a live round when it went off during a rehearsal while pointed at Halyna Hutchins, 42, pictured. Investigators in Santa Fe, New Mexico, trying to find where the live round came from have searched Mr Kenney’s firm, PDQ Arm & Prop, and have described ‘some complacency’ in how weapons were handled on set.
Miss Gutierrez Reed’s lawsuit, filed in New Mexico yesterday, states: ‘The introduction of live rounds on to the set, which no one anticipated, combined with the rushed and chaotic atmosphere, created a perfect storm for a safety incident.’ She also accuses Mr Kenney of trying to implicate her. He has not responded but has said previously that he was sure his company did not send any live rounds to the set of Rust.
