HOW TO GET THE EXERCISE HABIT

-

THE WW approach to exercise is simple: if you enjoy it, you’ll do more of it. Thanks to WW’s new PersonalPoints Programme, getting active will now also add to your food Budget.

This is what behavioural scientists call a habit loop — and there are other strategies to stay on track.

■ Be realistic

CHOOSE activities that will excite you. If you really hate running, then don’t train for a Couch to 5K. Do Zumba or dance classes instead.

■ Keep motivated

COMBINE your exercise time with something else you’re keen to do. Save a podcast you love for a long walk or watch Netflix while you’re on the treadmill.

■ End on a high

EVEN if some parts of your exercise session were hard, make sure you end with something that feels good such as a cool-down walk or stretching. This makes you more likely to take away a lasting positive impression.

■ Celebrate your progress

DID you make it to yoga twice this week? Congratulate yourself by tracking

activity in the WW app and share it in the New To Activity or Yoga Connect groups.
