Paint Your Wagon (1969)

LEE MARVIN’S ‘Wanderin’ Star’ is by far the best reason to rewatch this whiskery old Gold Rush musical — though Clint Eastwood sings too! His co-star Jean Seberg said Marvin had the voice of ‘rain gurgling down a rusty pipe’. But what a gurgle, and what a pipe! (BBC2, 2pm, Saturday)
