It’s All In The Name!

-

I OFTeN used to deal with a bank teller called Miss Smith. She disappeared for a week and when she returned her name badge had changed to Mrs Wright. ‘Ah, you must have been waiting for Mr Right to come along,’ I said. From the stony look she gave me, she must have heard this before. On another occasion, I phoned a Mr Cork and got his secretary. ‘I’m sorry,’ she said. ‘Mr Cork has just popped out.’ She couldn’t understand why I laughed.

Denis Sharp, Littlehampton, W. Sussex. WheN I was growing up, one of my friends had the surname head. his initials were M. T.

Dave Diss, Telford, Shropshire. AT MY granddaughter Lottie’s primary school, her teachers’ names are Mrs hook and Mrs Crook, so she’s learning by hook or by Crook!

M. Redwood, Pontypool, Gwent.
