Restore hard shoulders

IT’S taken dozens of deaths to bring the authorities to their senses and stop the rollout of smart motorways.

LARKIN, Burgess Hill, W. Sussex. hALTING smart motorways has taken a ridiculous amount of time. There is nothing smart about them. They are so frightening to drive on that I avoid them.

NICK SMITH, Blandford Forum, Dorset. IT’S the worst of all situations on the M6 after months of roadworks. From junction 21A to 26, there is no hard shoulder or refuge areas. It feels like a death trap.
