TOFFEES TIE UP EL GHAZI LOAN

■EVERTON have signed Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy him for £8.5million. ‘Everton are a big club, I can’t wait to get started,’ El Ghazi said. ‘I just want to focus on working hard, fighting for my place and, with the boys, get Everton where they belong — much higher up the table.’ The 26-year-old becomes Everton’s third signing of the January transfer window and follows their sale of left back Lucas Digne to Villa in a deal worth up to £25m.

■VILLA are looking to finalise the £800,000 signing of Dundee United defender Kerr Smith. The 17-year-old has previously trained with them and Manchester United and was the subject of an offer from Crystal Palace. The deal for the Scotland Under 19 internatio­nal could rise to £2m. Villa are also pushing to sign Sheffield United goalkeeper Robin Olsen and take over his loan from Roma. ÷WEST HAM manager David Moyes has no interest in signing Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo despite being linked with the 25-year-old.

■NEWCASTLE UNITED are maintainin­g contact with Lille over defender Sven Botman. The French club have said the 22-year-old is not for sale but he has remained Newcastle’s prime target. They are also awaiting a response from Sevilla after making a £28m bid for Brazilian centre back Diego Carlos on Wednesday.

■CHELSEA are continuing negotiatio­ns with Lyon over cutting short the loan of full back Emerson Palmieri and have offered £3.5m in compensati­on. Southampto­n want to sign Armando Broja on a permanent deal from the Blues but face competitio­n for the striker.

■BRIGHTON have made an enquiry for highly-rated Lewes winger Ollie Tanner. Tottenham are also interested in the 19-year-old, who would be loaned back to the Isthmian League Premier Division side as part of any deal. Spurs youngster Dilan Markanday is the subect of loan interest from Blackburn.

MANCHESTER UNITED may recall winger Facundo Pellistri from his loan at Alaves.

MANCHESTER CITY midfielder Tommy Doyle is wanted on loan by Cardiff City after cutting short his spell at Hamburg. His team-mate James Trafford has joined Bolton on loan.

HULL CITY striker Josh Magennis has signed for Wigan.
