CONVENIENC­E store chain McColl’s sank to an all-time low after Sainsbury’s poached one of its senior executives.

Chief commercial officer Richard Crampton will leave to become the FTSE 100 supermarke­t’s director of fresh food and food services.

He has stepped down from the McColl’s board with immediate effect and will be able to leave from February 18. Chief operating officer Karen Bird will take over his duties.

Shares dropped 11.5pc, or 1.3p, or 10.18p.
