Prue Leith: I will be next in ‘silly’ cancel culture wars
DAME Prue Leith has said she expects to be ‘cancelled’ due to ‘ridiculous’ political correctness.
The Great British Bake Off judge said that ‘being cancelled because I said something’ sounded ‘like me’. She added that cancel culture was ‘silly’ and ‘ridiculous’.
The 81-year-old was criticised by eating disorder campaigners in October last year after viewers noticed that she often joked ‘Is it worth the calories?’ when discussing contestants’ sugary bakes.
‘Well I’ve had to stop doing it because everyone gets so upset and actually I think it’s all too ridiculous. But I think the world will stop being silly,’ she told MailOnline.
Channel 4, the broadcaster of The Great British Bake Off, was urged by eating disorder charity Beat to avoid ‘triggering’ foodrelated language last year.
