LEAGUE ONE WEEKEND ROUND-UP

- by DAVID KENT

JOE IRONSIDE was the toast of CAMBRIDGE last week after knocking Newcastle out of the FA Cup and he delivered again with the only goal in a 1-0 win at LINCOLN. Ironside reacted first when team-mate Adam May’s shot was parried by goalkeeper Josh Griffiths in the 90th minute. Cambridge boss Mark Bonner said: ‘Given how the first half went, it’s a major three points for us.’ WYCOMBE went a point clear at the top of the table after beating OXFORD 2-0. ‘We’ve gone top, which is brilliant. There is a long way to go but the way we played, we were full value for the win,’ said manager Gareth Ainsworth. SUNDERLAND were pegged back to a 1-1 draw at 10-man ACCRINGTON having led through Aiden O’Brien, much to the annoyance of Lee Johnson. The Black Cats boss warned his players: ‘We’ve got to understand that we have to put in 95-minute performances. We cost ourselves with an individual error.’ BOLTON ended their five-match losing streak with a 2-0 win over IPSWICH, with goals from Kieran Lee and Dapo Afolayan. Leaders ROTHERHAM were beaten 1-0 at FLEETWOOD. Substitute Anthony Pilkington struck in the fifth minute of added time to delight manager Stephen Crainey. He said: ‘Pilkington has been great the last few weeks in training and he’s been unlucky with injuries.’
