Anthem WILL be played every day... on GB News
GB News is to start broadcasting the national anthem at the beginning of its live programming every day.
The channel said God Save The Queen will be played on GB News Television and GB News Radio at 5.59am from today.
Editorial director Michael Booker said it will be a ‘welcome addition’ to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
Mr Booker added: ‘We always promised we would celebrate what’s good about our country, and the Queen’s 0-year reign is definitely worth celebrating.
‘We’ve chosen an instrumental version which, for our viewers, will feature stunning scenes from across the UK. We think it’s a lovely way to start the day.’
The announcement comes after Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries backed calls by Tory MP Andrew Rosindell for the BBC to play the national anthem every evening. BBC1 stopped broadcasting the anthem at the end of the day’s programming in October 199 , but it is still played every night on Radio 4.
