Gloomy modelling of Covid cases, hospitalisations and deaths in England have proved to be wildly pessimistic time and again. Some experts have been accused of using the models in a bid to bounce ministers into locking down . But the latest data shows the doomsday scenarios have failed to materialise and the country is on course to ‘ride out’ the Omicron wave.
