Arsenal left in dark over Auba return
ARSENAL were last night chasing the Gabonese Football Federation for official confirmation of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s expected return to the club after suffering complications from a bout of Covid. Gabon yesterday confirmed in a statement Aubameyang (right) would be returning to England for medical checks after being diagnosed with ‘heart lesions’ after contracting Covid before the Africa Cup of Nations. But there was confusion over his return last night as Arsenal grew frustrated at Gabon’s lack of communication in the last few days. In a further twist, reports suggested Aubameyang was involved in a disciplinary breach in the Gabon camp, though the player denied the allegations last night. Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to loan Pablo Mari to Udinese, days after succeeding in their request to call off the north London derby due to a lack of available players. Arsenal will assess their squad before deciding whether they have enough senior players available to fulfil Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at home to Liverpool.
