Player Ratings
JACK GAUGHAN at the Etihad Stadium
EDERSON
Made a smart stop to thwart Fred early on and was alert whenever he was called upon.
KYLE WALKER
Grew into the game after slow start. Outnumbered for Jadon Sancho’s goal. Used possession well.
JOHN STONES
Unusually lax distribution from the back, but stood up to the threat posed by the visitors.
AYMERIC LAPORTE
Not a vintage display, but then he never seemed in any real danger for long either.
JOAO CANCELO
Admired for his attacking flair yet his biggest interventions came in stopping United breaks.
RODRI
Helped build City’s dominance and marshalled proceedings well.
BERNARDO SILVA
Linked play with the poise for which he is renowned. Classy performance.
RIYAD MAHREZ
Cannot stop scoring and his superbly controlled half-volley put this derby to bed.
KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Man for the big games. Stepped up and won this one for City with his all-round dominance.
JACK GREALISH
Bright from the off. Was purposeful going forward and diligent defensively.
PHIL FODEN
Becoming increasingly more impressive up front. His first touch had Victor Lindelof spinning.
DAVID DE GEA
A few stunning saves but ultimately let down by those in front of him. Cut a frustrated figure.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA
Loss of focus could have cost United on more than one occasion. Struggled with Grealish.
VICTOR LINDELOF
All over the place for both of City’s first-half goals. Given a torrid time by City’s attackers.
HARRY MAGUIRE
Made some important blocks, but was rash at times and fortunate not to concede a penalty.
ALEX TELLES
Not decisive enough when required. He had clearly been told not to venture forward.
SCOTT McTOMINAY
Did his best in an area of the pitch where United were set up to fail and overrun from kick-off.
FRED
Was industrious and attempted to inject impetus. Kept going, trying to force mistakes.
ANTHONY ELANGA
Wasn’t urgent enough when chances arose. Lazy ball out from the back for the second goal.
JADON SANCHO
Excellent equaliser — curling away to Ederson’s left, but missed a big chance at 2-1.
PAUL POGBA
Confused by his position to start, improved for a spell and then reverted to the periphery again.
BRUNO FERNANDES
Provided a clever decoy for Sancho’s equaliser but didn’t offer enough spearheading the attack.
