UPS AND DOWNS

Ten clubs still scrapping to join Fulham in top flight

-

CHAMPIONSHIP

FULHAM have already confirmed promotion to the top flight. BOURNEMOUTH will join them if they can take eight points from the last four games and then there is a chasing pack for the remaining places. HUDDERSFIELD definitely have a spot in the play-offs and NOTTINGHAM FOREST need a point to seal their place. Both can catch Bournemouth, as can LUTON. SHEFFIELD UNITED, MILLWALL, MIDDLESBROUGH BLACKBURN, QPR and COVENTRY are also scrapping for the last play-off places. BARNSLEY are relegated with DERBY and PETERBOROUGH. READING stay up.

LEAGUE ONE

WIGAN need a point to confirm promotion back to the Championship after coming from behind to secure a draw against Plymouth. It keeps the Latics top, three points ahead of ROTHERHAM and MK DONS. With one game left to play, the third-placed Dons can only draw level with Wigan on 89 points, but with a seven-goal advantage on goal difference for Wigan, it would take a spectacular collapse in their last two games to deny them a return to the second tier after a two-year absence. Rotherham and MK Dons have at least sealed a play-off spot. SUNDERLAND, PLYMOUTH, WYCOMBE and SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are vying for the remaining three spots. In the relegation zone, CREWE knew their fate a week ago. WIMBLEDON, DONCASTER ROVERS and GILLINGHAM fill the other three spots although FLEETWOOD and MORECAMBE can be sucked in. Second-from bottom Rovers have a -45 goal difference so need a miracle.

LEAGUE TWO

FOREST GREEN are into the third tier for the first time. They have been top of the table since September and are eight points clear of fourth-placed PORT VALE, who have two matches remaining to Forest Green’s three. EXETER will join them with a home win over Barrow tomorrow. NORTHAMPTON occupy the final slot but can be caught by Vale, BRISTOL ROVERS, MANSFIELD and SUTTON. The play-off battle includes SALFORD, TRANMERE, SWINDON and NEWPORT. SCUNTHORPE and OLDHAM head out of the League while BARROW pulled off a remarkable escape.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

STOCKPORT are seven points clear at the top. WREXHAM, in second, lead a chasing pack with eight points separating the six teams in play-off spots. The Welsh club suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Woking but third-placed HALIFAX also went down 1-0 at Southend. SOLIHULL MOORS, CHESTERFIELD, GRIMSBY and NOTTS COUNTY made ground.
