Unwrapped, it’s Amazon’s wonder of the tech age

PERHAPS they were trying to create a Hanging Gardens of Babylon for the digital age.

For Amazon’s striking new HQ, with its swirling tiers of glass and greenery, will certainly be one of the wonders of the modern world.

The 350ft-high tower, by architects NBBJ, has hiking trails winding around the outside to look like the double helix of a DNA molecule.

Plans for the Helix – due to open in 2025 in Arlington, Virginia, for up to 25,000 workers – were approved at the weekend. Amazon has a global HQ in Washington state.
