THE MYSTERY OF MARILYN MONROE: THE UNHEARD TAPES, NETFLIX
IN 1982, the case of Marilyn Monroe’s death was reopened in the hopes of providing a full stop to the rumours and speculation about the night the bombshell actress died, 20 years before, aged just 36. This new documentary, directed by Emma Cooper (who has often worked with Louis Theroux), has access to the tapes of the investigation which haven’t been heard since. To have fresh insight like this into Monroe nearly 60 years after she passed away has a strange effect. It’s mesmerising hearing the thoughts of those close to her at the time, including director John Huston — this is the power of true stars, even from well beyond the grave. And if this film leaves you intrigued by the movie icon’s glamorous life and tragic death, then watch out for the biopic Blonde, starring No Time To Die’s Ana de Armas as Marilyn, which is due on Netflix later this year.
