BT to review Kinahan links to Fury fights

- RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

BT SPORT are reviewing their past dealings in boxing after claims that alleged gangster Daniel Kinahan made millions in consultancy fees from fights involving Tyson Fury. Fury’s stateside promoter Bob Arum admitted earlier this month that his Top Rank company had paid ‘at least a million’ to Kinahan for each of the heavyweight champion’s fights against Tom Schwarz, Otto Wallin and back-to-back showdowns with Deontay Wilder. Although BT have no commercial link to Arum or Top Rank, Sportsmail understands the broadcaster, who screen Fury’s fights in the UK, are doing increased due diligence on their past transactions around the boxer. Fury and British-based promoter Frank Warren have maintained they had no knowledge or involvement in any payments from Arum to Kinahan. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by either. In a statement, BT Sport said: ‘For the last few years we have gone even further to be extremely proactive to ensure we only deal with legitimate and verified businesses in boxing.’
