Kyiv: Blast at ammunition dump in Russia is karma

- By Mark Nicol Defence Editor

EXPLOSIONS in Russia represent ‘karma’, an adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday.

An ammunition depot in the border city of Belgorod caught fire yesterday, while explosions were also reported in nearby Voronezh and Kursk. They followed a series of strikes within Russia earlier this week, as Ukraine targeted military bases, fuel depots and oil refineries.

Last night Russia claimed to have shot down several drones used to scout out targets. While Kyiv officials did not directly admit responsibility, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, said: ‘If you decide to massively attack another country, massively kill everyone there, massively crush peaceful people with tanks, and use warehouses in your regions to enable the killings, then sooner or later the debts will have to be repaid... therefore, the disarmament of the Belgorod and Voronezh killers’ warehouses is an absolutely natural process. Karma is a cruel thing.’

Western officials warned yesterday that Russia is making gains in its bid to secure all territory within the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of eastern Ukraine. Last night Luhansk governor Serhiy haidai said troops had bombed a hospital in the city of Sievierodonetsk – one of only two still operating in the entire region.
