You could be going to jail for five years, judge warns Katie Price
KATIE Price was yesterday warned she was living dangerously and could face five years in jail if convicted of breaching a restraining order. She is accused of sending a message to her ex-husband Kieran Hayler branding his fiancee Michelle Penticost a ‘gutter slag’. The 43-year-old former glamour model had been banned from directly or indirectly contacting Miss Penticost after screaming abuse at the 39-yearold outside a primary school. Price was arrested at her home shortly after allegedly sending the message on January 21, Crawley Magistrates’ Court was told. She was released after a 12hour interrogation at Worthing police station during which her phone was confiscated. Price was said to have sent the message after Miss Penticost uploaded an Instagram post about dealing with people treating you badly. Jonathan Karani, prosecuting, said: ‘The allegation is Miss Price sent Kieran Hayler a message saying “Tell your c***ing whore piece of s*** girlfriend not to start on me. I’m sure she doesn’t want people knowing she was having an affair with you behind my back. The gutter slag”.’ When she was arrested, the Loose Women star indicated she had done nothing wrong. But the court was told detectives had accessed data showing the messages had come from her phone. Mr Karani said Price also forwarded the message to a relative saying: ‘I sent that message to Kieran LOL [laugh out loud].’
There was ‘clear antagonism’ between Price and Miss Penticost, the court was told. Price’s lawyer, Joe Harrington, said her defence would ‘relate to her mental health and the triggers that led to her sending that message’.
Judge Amanda Kelly warned Price she could face up to five years behind bars for the offence, adding: ‘This is a very serious allegation that you directed vile and nasty language toward Miss Penticost.
‘You are in grave danger of going to prison, you are really living very dangerously.’
Price was released on bail to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 25. She and Mr Hayler have an eight-year-old son, Jett, and a seven-year-old daughter, Bunny. Last month Price split from her fiance Carl Woods but he was in court.
