IMAGINE W1A but about actors’ agents and you’ve got the idea of this new UK take on the hit French comedy Call My Agent!, which follows the professional and (sometimes conflicting) private lives of the staff at small London talent agency Nightingale Hart. Jack Davenport stars as Jonathan Nightingale, son of the firm’s founder, Richard (Jim Broadbent), and his colleagues include the razor-sharp Rebecca (Lydia Leonard, pictured with Davenport) and wise old hand Stella (Maggie Steed). What really gives this show its fizz, though, is the celebrity cameos. Helena Bonham Carter, Dominic West, Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and many more pop up suffering lively moments of crisis — and, to add intrigue for us, all the showbiz horror stories here are based on real tales, so it’s great fun guessing who they were originally about. All eight episodes are available on Amazon’s streaming service from today, and if you want to catch up with the original (which is called Dix Pour Cent in France), all four series are available on Netflix.
