Well, THAT wasn’t in the script!
Harry Styles’ Hollywood lover is served custody papers from her Ted Lasso star ex on stage
STANDING in the spotlight on a Las Vegas stage, actress and director Olivia Wilde was in full flow discussing her new film.
But not everyone in the audience was paying full attention to the ins and outs of the upcoming thriller.
As she gave her presentation on Don’t Worry Darling – which stars her new boyfriend Harry Styles – a woman approached Miss Wilde at Caesars Palace and handed her an envelope.
The mum of two, 38, said, ‘Is this for me? Is it a script?’ before opening the mystery package, marked ‘private and confidential’.
Her face appeared to drop as she realised what she was reading – custody documents sent on behalf of her exfiance, actor Jason Sudeikis.
A clearly embarrassed Miss Wilde quickly stuffed the documents behind her back and, despite the way her personal life had been exposed, continued her speech.
The trailer for the film was then played – and the audience, who appeared to be none the wiser to the contents of the envelope, broke out into animated applause. Miss Wilde, who has an eight-year-old son named Otis and a five-year-old daughter named Daisy with Sudeikis, is now dating British singer and actor Styles, 28.
The pair met on the set of Don’t Worry Darling in 2020. The US actress had been in a relationship with Sudeikis from 2011 until early 2020.
She has recently been staying in the UK to co-parent their children as Sudeikis films the third season of Ted Lasso, a football drama series for Apple TV set in London.
After Tuesday night’s speech, a source close to 46-year-old Sudeikis told US showbiz outlet Variety: ‘Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Miss Wilde and Mr Sudeikis.’
But the actor was said to have been blindsided by events, having had ‘no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved’. Another insider said Sudeikis was ‘appalled about the whole thing’.
In December, Wilde appeared to refer to her new relationship when she told US Vogue: ‘I’m happier than I’ve ever been. And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been... It doesn’t matter what strangers think about you. All that matters to you is what’s real, and what you love, and who you love.’
