Amber’s price for peace: Three penthouses and a Range Rover

List of demands sent to Depp on eve of divorce

- From Daniel Bates in New York

AMBER Heard sent Johnny Depp a lengthy list of demands, including the use of three penthouses he owned, after she filed for divorce.

A letter shown at the former couple’s £80million defamation trial in Virginia yesterday showed that the Aquaman star threatened to publicly serve Depp with a restraining order if her requests were not granted.

Miss Heard asked for $125,000 (£100,000) for legal and accounting fees and exclusive use of the black Range Rover she was driving, with Depp to make the payments. She also wanted to carry on living rentfree in her West Hollywood penthouse and for her friends to continue living in two other penthouses in the same building, all owned by Depp.

The letter was sent in May 2016 by Miss Heard’s lawyer at the time, Samantha Spector, to Depp’s lawyer, Jacob Bloom. It gives an insight into the tactics used during the breakdown of her marriage with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Depp, 58, is suing Miss Heard, 35, over an opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 which said she was a survivor of domestic abuse. Depp claims the article cost him the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates films. She has sued him back for a ‘smear campaign’ which she alleges damaged her career.

It is not clear what response Depp’s legal team made to the letter, but the day after it was sent, the first reports emerged of the divorce. On May 27, three days after the letter was sent, Miss Heard filed for a temporary restraining order against Depp and filed a picture of herself with a bruise on her face.

The couple fought a libel trial in 2020 at the High Court in London, where a judge ruled that Depp had beaten Miss Heard. The trial in Virginia is due to finish in late May.
