Nintendo Switch Sports (£30.99)

Verdict: Another miracle

SUMMER’S on the way, so it’s time to get active by shutting the curtains, grabbing a controller and doing some sports within collapsing distance of the sofa.

Which is to say, it’s time for Nintendo Switch Sports.

You might remember this game’s 16-year-old forerunner, Wii Sports, which had everyone waving their controllers about as though they were playing actual golf or actually dodging grandmother’s right hook during a round (or 12) of good, old-fashioned pugilism.

The new version dispenses with the boxing, but it does carry over tennis and bowling, while adding volleyball, football, badminton and the sword-twirling discipline of chambara. Golf will come later this year.

But the most impressive difference is how Switch Sports feels. The newer console’s sensors allow for more accurate mirroring between your lounge-floor exertions and what’s happening on the telly than even the miraculous Wii Sports managed. This makes Switch Sports incredibly intuitive — for almost anyone.
