Especially for June: Kylie and Jason return to Ramsay Street for Neighbours’ last series

- By TV Correspondent

EVERYBODY needs good neighbours – and it seems Australian TV producers have the best ones on speed dial.

For Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan – once the young stars of Neighbours – have announced they will return to film the show’s series finale in June, decades after their Ramsay Street debuts.

The stars, both 53, will reprise their roles as much-loved couple Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell before the soap stops production after being dropped by its UK broadcaster Channel 5.

Miss Minogue – who said she will be ‘forever grateful’ to the show that first made her name – was part of the original cast in 1 85, with Donovan joining a year later. On screen, the couple’s famous wedding episode pulled in an audience of almost 20million in the UK in 1 88 and the actors quit their roles shortly afterwards.

The pair dated during their time on the show, and in 1 8 released hit duet Especially For You.

News of their reunion will delight fans. The show still pulls in more than a million UK viewers. A message on Twitter from executive producer Jason Herbison said: ‘Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.’

A later post added: ‘It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I’m sure it will be for our viewers.’
