Firm where you can WFH for ever... for a 20% pay cut

-

A LAW firm has told staff they can work from home permanently – but only if they agree to a 20 per cent pay cut.

The radical option is being offered by Stephenson Harwood, one of London’s oldest practices, which employs more than 1,100 people and has offices across the world.

It comes as many businesses in the City of London are trying to entice employees back into their costly Square Mile offices after the pandemic – another law firm, Hogan Lovells, is paying a company to bring in litters of puppies for staff to cuddle.

Stephenson Harwood told The Times that partners will not be eligible under the scheme.

Junior lawyers at the firm start on £90,000, meaning an £18,000 cut for those who choose homeworking. A spokesman said that a senior associate solicitor could also opt to work remotely full-time, but it is likely they would be ruled out of promotion to the firm’s partnership.
