Ban MPs using mobiles
WHEN I chair a meeting, I don’t expect people to be looking at their mobile phones, scrolling or texting.
I urge the Speaker of the House of Commons to ban mobiles in the chamber for any purpose. Their use is distracting and discourteous to those debating, irrespective of what content is being viewed.
REX BOURNE, Leiston, Suffolk. No MP should have their mobile phone or tablet switched on in the House of Commons chamber. They are there to listen and debate.
KARL EDWARDS, Argyll.
WHENEVER there is TV coverage of Parliament, you can see MPs looking at their phones or texting.
In light of the recent disclosure, it’s time mobiles and tablets were banned in the chamber.
