The password of choice for top bosses is ... 123456

- By Jim Norton Technology Editor

SECURITY experts have found that thousands of chief executives are still using easy-tocrack passwords.

Analysis of millions of data breaches showed that bosses’ most-commonly used password was ‘123456’, followed by ‘password’ and ‘qwerty’.

Password management firm NordPass analysed 290million data breaches across the world and found nearly 30,000 chief executives used ‘123456’. Jonas Karklys, NordPass chief executive, said: ‘It is unbelievable how similarly we all think.

‘What we might consider being very original, in fact, can place us in the list of most common.’

Cybersecurity firm Hive Systems said a six-letter password, regardless of whether numbers and symbols are included, can be cracked in 39 minutes.
