He’s alive! Covid victim saved as his body bag is loaded into hearse

COVID has taken a huge toll on the elderly all over the world. But it appears the authorities in China may have been a little over-zealous in the case of one care home resident.

Deemed to have succumbed to the disease, he was found to be alive just as morgue workers, having put him in a body bag, loaded him into a hearse in Shanghai.

A video showing the workers in full PPE reacting in flustered disbelief went viral on social media. The incident sparked outrage in Shanghai, where the 25million population is already furious at the heavyhanded zero-Covid policy which has left them under a merciless lockdown.

The video shows two nursing home staff and a mortuary worker load the body bag into a hearse. Moments later they take it out again and open it up. ‘He’s alive!’ one of the workers exclaims. ‘He’s alive, I saw it. Don’t cover him any more.’

They then transfer him back to the nursing home, still inside the body bag.

The authorities said the man was in hospital in a stable condition.
