W1A star marries on stage — and in real life
OPHELIA LOVIBOND, who plays the Prime Minister’s wife Carrie Johnson in forthcoming Sky drama series This Sceptred Isle, has a new role in real life — that of wife.
The 36-year-old, who’s best known for her part in BBC spoof comedy W1A, exchanged vows with The Crown actor Henry Pettigrew, 38, on stage in a ceremony held at Wilton’s Music Hall in London’s East End. The service included a soulful gospel choir, who sang Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered. ‘It was a dream wedding, dream man and a dream day,’ gushes Ophelia, who wore an elaborate white bow bridal gown designed by Halfpenny London. ‘It’s still not sunk in how spectacularly special it all was.’
The couple met seven years ago while playing on-stage lovers, soon after Ophelia’s split from actor Tom Hughes, who went on to live with his Victoria co-star Jenna Coleman.
Pettigrew, who played astronaut Neil Armstrong in The Crown, says: ‘I married my best friend.’
