Tied up in red tape
deaLINg with matters following the death of my mother-in-law has necessitated contact with three government departments.
Land registry sent documents for an inheritance six months after probate was completed, but with an incorrect address.
the solicitor sent it back, but I didn’t receive amended documents until seven months later.
a legal case required an explanation of a bank entry paying hMrC. details were requested in October and arrived in april. an apology was given, but why did it take six months to provide four photocopies?
an underpayment of the winter fuel allowance was reported to the dWP
in October. I am still waiting. Were the situations reversed, I expect I’d have been fined by now.
