Who will benefit most in the local elections?

-

LABOUR is making a lot out of the local elections and hopes for the loss of many Tory-held seats. No one outside the Westminster bubble pays any attention to them and few bother voting. Mid-term local elections are an opportunity to register a protest vote against the Government. Following the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, there is a lot of protesting to get stuck into. But you’d have to be deluded to think Sir Keir Starmer would be a viable Prime Minister. And don’t forget Labour councils increase council taxes.

KEVIN COLEY, Leicester.

I PITY those who will use the local elections as a protest vote and then find themselves lumbered with a money-wasting, woke Labour/Liberal Democrat council. The question to ask yourself before you cast your vote is: do you want decent public services, bins emptied, potholes filled and better housing or do you want even more Green restrictions, gender-neutral toilets and a Britain-hating, virtue-signalling cancel culture? Vote for the councillors who will do the best for your community.

CHRIS TAYLOR, Yateley, Hants. BE CAREFUL what you vote for. My Lib Dem-controlled town council has increased the council tax precept by 30 per cent.

BRIAN ROBERTS, Aylesbury, Bucks. WHAT’s wrong if the Lib Dems and Labour have a pact for the council elections? The Tories and the Brexit Party had a similar arrangement in the 2019 General Election which resulted in a comprehensive victory for Boris Johnson.

GEOFF ROBB, York. THE Prime Minister tells voters to think about potholes rather than Partygate at the local elections. We’ve thought about them for years, but nothing gets done.

BRIAN BEST, High Wycombe, Bucks.
