Briton held over Med death crash

A BRITISH man was in custody last night after a rented dune buggy hit and killed a Swedish mother in the popular Cypriot resort town of Ayia Napa.

Warsmeh Sayd, 26, was named in a police appeal after allegedly fleeing on foot. A local court yesterday ordered that a suspect remain in custody for six days until investigators can bring charges following the death of 46-yearold Camilla Christina Pamdahl.

Police said the incident occurred early on Wednesday evening, as Miss Pamdahl used a pedestrian crossing on a busy main route. Tests on the suspect showed evidence of drugs and a blood alcohol level of nearly five times the legal limit, authorities said.

Broadcaster CyBC said Miss Pamdahl had been holidaying with her six-yearold daughter, who was last night in the care of Cyprus’ welfare department.
