Revealed, very risque way to flirt in the modern era

- By Victoria Allen Science Correspondent

FLIRTING can be fairly easy for women looking for a fling – or so scientists have said.

Top tactics likely to attract men including dressing sexily, touching his arm and laughing at his jokes, a study found.

But men may have to work a little harder, even when looking for a short-term liaison. Women may require men to show interest in the conversation, make them laugh and give compliments.

The study, led by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, asked 992 men and women under 30 in Norway and the US to rate which of 40 flirting tactics they felt worked best for flings and longer relationships.

The participants insisted that having sex was a type of flirting in the modern age, so this was included and, unsurprisingly, was among the top tactics. The study is published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology.
